Yankee slugger and Madonna pal Alex Rodriguez admits he used banned performance-enhancing substances from 2001-2003 to justify his 10-year, $252 million contract with the Texas Rangers, according to ESPN.

The confession is in response to a new Sports Illustrated report that claimed the 33-year-old All-Star third baseman tested positive for steroids -- Primobolan and testosterone -- in a drug test in '03. In a 2007 interview with CBS's "60 Minutes," Rodriguez denied he had ever taken steroids.

"I wasn't even being truthful with myself," Rodriguez tells ESPN. "Today, I'm here to tell the truth."

"Back then it was a different culture," he continues. "It was very loose. I was young. I was stupid. I was naive, and I wanted to prove to everyone that, you know, I was worth, you know -- and being one of the greatest players of all time."

Rodriguez was traded to the New York Yankees before the 2004 season, and says he hasn't used performance-enhancing substances since.

"This is three years I'm not proud of," he says. "I did take a banned substance and, you know, for that I'm very sorry and deeply regretful. … I'm sorry for that time. I'm sorry to fans. I'm sorry for my fans in Texas. It wasn't until then that I ever thought about substance of any kind."

His first son was born.

Woods announced on his website early Monday that his wife, Elin Nordegren, had given birth to a boy, Charlie Axel Woods. This is the couple’s second adorable child following the birth of daughter Sam Alexis Woods in June 2007.

“Elin and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, Charlie Axel Woods, who was born on Sunday, February 8, 2009,” Woods wrote in a statement.

Pals say the "Rehab" singer, 25, has been smoking up 10 spliffs (joints) a day during her never-ending St. Lucia vacation to suppress cravings for hard drugs.

Amazingly, those close to A-Dubs are encouraging this $1,000-a-week habit - as it's been giving her the munchies and helping her get back to a healthy weight.

A close friend said: "Amy hasn’t touched crack or cocaine for months. She's been good. Drugs are easy to get in St. Lucia but she has stuck to smoking dope."

TEN JOINTS A DAY: Hey, at least it's not crack.

"The amazing thing is she smokes all morning then sees her personal trainer in the afternoon and is put through a gruelling workout," added the friend.

When she's not shagging Josh Bowman or her new boy toy Andrew, Amy Winehouse has also kept busy giving singing lessons to kids at a school near her villa.

The head teacher was said to be horrified when the train wreck turned up at class wearing a bra and skimpy vest, however. Anyone surprised?

"They scrabbled around and found a spare PE kit for her to wear," said a source at the school. "And because she’s so tiny, it fit fairly well."

Awesome. Back in the UK, Amy's estranged husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is surely taking notes as he prepares his list of reasons to divorce her.

The night before, Kim and Khloe were spotted maintaining their socialite status at the Belvedere Vodka party held at new Hollywood hotspot MyHouse.

Besides her public persona, the “Disaster Movie” babe has also been keeping up with her brother Rob, who is about to graduate from college. She recently blogged, “I’ve been spending a lot of time with Rob lately. He’s getting ready to graduate USC and is always having study groups at my house. The other night we went to eat at Jerry’s Deli, then met up with Frankie and Reggie’s friend Frosty, who also plays in the league with him. We didn’t stay long, but it was fun just catching up with Rob.”

People need to lay off Michael Phelps. Hitting the bong isn't exactly a performance-enhancer - nor does it make the swimmer a lying, cheating disgrace.

New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, the best player in baseball, normally only makes celebrity gossip headlines for his actions off the field.

This story does continues that trend, although it's potentially far more scandalous than the railing of various manly strippers or even his now-infamous "affair of the heart" with Madonna while still married to pregnant wife Cynthia Rodriguez.

A-Rod tested positive for steroids while playing for the Texas Rangers in 2003, when he won the first of his three MVP awards, according to Sports Illustrated.

The supposedly anonymous results were seized in April 2004 by federal agents in the BALCO steroids ring investigation, which did not involve the Rod.

According to the report, Alex Rodriguez was one of 104 players on a list of positive tests for steroids that year, when baseball starting instituting "survey" testing to "determine the extent of steroids use in the game." The extent? Extensive.

Seen here cheering on Madonna, Alex Rodriguez is likely to hear even fewer cheers than usual (if that's possible) in 2009 amid reports of a past positive steroids test.

Having repeatedly denied having used steroids throughout what has been a prolific career (at least in the months of April-September), A-Rod did not comment.

"You'll have to ask the union," he said. "I'm not saying anything."

Major League Baseball's executive vice president for labor relations would not discuss the validity of the story, saying in a statement that the 2003 survey testing was only intended to be informational, and neither disciplinary nor anonymous.

While Alex Rodriguez is unlikely to face discipline over the findings - as baseball did not begin attaching punishment to positive tests until 2004 - the story most certainly will further tarnish Rodriguez's much-scrutinized career.

I'm getting a lot of calls today about a story that ran in a New York paper saying that I am now in a "romantic" relationship with Benji Madden.

I find it highly amusing, since I haven't seen him since December. I think Benji is a sweetheart and we're good friends, but we are definitely NOT dating!

According to TMZ, Kevin Federline is officially trying to start / resume / bring back his rap career, and the peeps behind this? Bone Thugs-n-Harmony!

One of the members of the legendary Cleveland hip hop group, Krayzie Bone, actually admitted that he's in talks with the ex-husband of Britney Spears (and current girlfriend of Victoria Prince) and will give him a try-out of sorts.

"We will listen to his music and if its jumpin' off ... if we can do business ... Bone is all about doin' business," said the aforementioned Mr. Bone.

Bone admitted he's never listened to previous K-Fed stuff, but nevertheless, the group (active and successful since 1991) seems to be genuinely interested.

As for taking a risk on a laughingstock, Bone is undeterred, stating that "We feel like we can work with anybody and have a platinum hit ... and our fan base are usually the ones who respect a man who has gone through a lot of sh!t."

Ellen DeGeneres sat down and chatted with Jennifer Anistonand John Mayer recently. Jen played coy with the talk show host, but Ellen ended up getting a juicy confession from John.

While the singer was discussing light switches and the unique décor in Jennifer's home, John let it slip that he has been in the star's home in the middle of the night. Ellen then playfully asked the singer, if the two have "sleepovers"?

"Yeah there are sleepovers," John admitted reluctantly. "Yes, yes there are."

In a separate taping of the show, Jennifer laughed when Ellen showed her a photo of her beau and asked if he would attend her 40th birthday party. When the silver team hit the scale on Tuesday night's "The Biggest Loser," newly reinstated Carla Triplett, who had been working the program for 30 days at home, lost a decent nine pounds, but her teammate Joelle Gwynn, who had the advantage of time on the ranch, didn't lose a single pound. Nada! Nothing!

Needless to say, Joelle had to walk that walk of shame back down the stairs, and her failure to shed pounds put her team below the yellow line. There was no doubt who was going home this night and Carla flipped out telling Joelle she wasn't being serious enough. She shouted, "Joelle! It's not about you, it's about us."

Joelle tells ET it was hurtful words like those -- and ones that were made off camera -- that made it impossible for her to articulate her desire to stay on the ranch when the rest of the contestants demanded to know if she wanted to be there.

"I kept in so much that at that moment, it was hard to speak," she tells ET. "I wanted to say that in order for me to stay that there would have to be a lot of changes. I was at a point where I was weak and drained physically and emotionally. I knew, for me, I had to believe I could get to a place where I could regroup. I was hurt that Carla couldn't see it. I wanted the best for her and our team."

These several months later, the two ladies are both back in Detroit and continue to lose weight. Joelle has dropped 57 pounds; while Carla has shed 87, but each is pursuing the goal on their own.

"I still consider Joelle a friend," Carla says. "I have reached out to her many times."

But Joelle, who says trying out for "The Biggest Loser" was her idea, sees it differently. She says, "Carla and I were more acquaintances than friends. I didn't know how we would sync. ...We have gotten through high blood pressure and diabetes. There are some victories here. So it depends on your outlook. We had a hard road, but we made it. Right now we are still achieving our goals. I am supportive for her goals and we are electing to do them separately."

"The Biggest Loser" airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on NBC.
